Grayscale Files For New Spot Bitcoin ETF

Grayscale, a major cryptocurrency investment firm, has submitted a new application to the SEC for a spot Bitcoin ETF.

The firm submitted an S-3 form registration statement on October 19 to list Grayscale Bitcoin Trust shares on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol GBTC.

This comes in line with Grayscale’s ongoing efforts to convert its Grayscale Bitcoin Trust into a spot Bitcoin ETF.

The latest S-3 registration statement is a shorter version of a typical S-1 statement targeting the initial public offering of equity securities registered under the Securities Act.

Grayscale has confirmed that GBTC is eligible to use Form S-3, a shorter filing that incorporates its SEC disclosures and reports, as its shares have been registered under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 since January 2020.
