Germany’s KfW to Roll Out Tokenized Bond in 2024
German development bank KfW is considering launching tokenized bonds in early 2024, building on its previous initiatives as regulations become more apparent.
KfW’s initial exploration of tokenization involved launching a digital bond offering in 2023 using Deutsche Börse’s Clearstream.
The proposed offering aims to be fully decentralized, as Germany’s digital securities laws support both centralized and decentralized digital depositories with full support for blockchain technology.
KfW sees this as a learning curve and believes the “first tokenized bond” will provide investors with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with blockchain-based bonds.\
