BTC Dominance Rises Above 62% Amid Renewed Bullish Signals
By Manoj Dharra
1) Bitcoin’s dominance surges past 62% as price crosses $84,000,
2) ETF outflows signal cautious sentiment,
3) Altcoin market faces volatility
Bitcoin surged past $84,000 over the weekend, with increasing trading volume suggesting renewed investor interest and signs of a potential trend reversal. As BTC dominance climbs above 62%, market watchers are paying close attention to macro and crypto-specific cues driving sentiment.
The dollar weakened for the fifth straight day after former President Trump warned of a potential electronics tariff announcement, while oil prices climbed 1% on the back of U.S. tariff exclusions and a rebound in China’s crude imports for March. Goldman Sachs, meanwhile, sees Brent crude averaging $63 for the remainder of 2025.
Regulatory Momentum & Corporate Confidence
In the U.S., New York’s proposal to authorize Bitcoin for state payments marks a significant milestone for crypto integration. Meanwhile, Michael Saylor’s MicroStrategy made headlines again, adding 80,715 BTC in Q1. The company now holds 528,185 BTC — over 2.5% of the total Bitcoin supply — with Saylor hinting at fresh buys on X.
Japanese firm Metaplanet also boosted its holdings last week, acquiring 319 BTC, underlining rising institutional interest.
At a state level, New Hampshire approved a bill to allocate up to 5% of its reserves to Bitcoin and precious metals, awaiting Senate and gubernatorial nods. Similarly, North Carolina lawmakers proposed using crypto for state payments.
Mixed ETF Trends and Crypto-Backed Assets
While Bitcoin’s spot ETFs in the U.S. saw net outflows quadruple to $713.3 million last week — continuing a two-week streak according to SoSoValue — total inflows since their January launch still stand at $35.36 billion. Ethereum ETFs haven’t fared better, with seven straight weeks of outflows totaling $82.5 million last week, reducing cumulative inflows since their July 2024 debut to $2.28 billion. Meanwhile, gold-backed cryptocurrencies like Paxos Gold (PAXG) and Tether Gold (XAUT) have soared 24.15% and 23.7% YTD, hitting new highs above $3,300 — echoing the rally in physical gold prices.
BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, reported $50.3 billion in crypto assets under management at Q1-end, equivalent to 0.5% of its $11.6 trillion in total assets.
Project Updates & Market Movers
Chainlink’s integration of Pi Network into its 22 new data feeds has helped boost Pi token prices by 2% to $0.7485.
In a high-stakes moment, Trump’s meme-inspired crypto project, TRUMP$TRUMP, faces a $320 million token unlock on April 18, adding 20% to its circulating supply. The token is currently down 3% at $8.36 in anticipation.
Another Trump-linked initiative, World Liberty Financial (WLFI), added 4.89 million SEI tokens worth $775,000, initially pushing SEI up 12% before profit-taking cooled it to $0.1745.
RWA Meltdown: OM Token Plummets
In a dramatic collapse, OM token — once a star in the Real World Assets (RWA) sector — shed over $3.5 billion in market value overnight, plunging 90% to $0.75. Just days earlier, it boasted a $6 billion market cap and a landmark $1B tokenization deal with DAMAC. The Mantra Team attributed the crash to reckless liquidations, denying operational issues.
Outlook : Despite ETF outflows and isolated collapses, Bitcoin’s resilience above $84,000, growing state and corporate adoption, and rising dominance indicate a market cautiously tilting back toward bullish territory — though risks remain, particularly in speculative sectors and altcoins.
