Day in and day out, we keep hearing about phishing scams around us with cybercrime having almost become a common scare as far as digital transactions are concerned. Unfortunately, it is indeed challenging to recognize phishing emails. That’s because all phishers take lot of pains to make their emails and websites appear trustworthy. But here are some warning signs to watch out for:
- Copycatting
- Spelling or grammar errors
- Misleading links
- Content misalignment
Do this to avoid a crypto phishing attack:
- Beware of emails, especially if they have links or attachments. When in doubt, get in touch with the sender of the email to find out for sure.
- Don’t open attachments or click links from websites you don’t trust.
- Update your applications and operating system.
- Never use the same password for many accounts; instead, use strong passwords.
- When two-factor authentication is an option, enable it.
- Never divulge private information to anyone, including your wallet’s address or your private keys.
- Use a trustworthy wallet and exchange for cryptocurrencies.
- Avoid downloading browser add-ons from shady websites.
- When accessing the internet, especially when utilizing public Wi-Fi, use a VPN.
